چکیده

Thyroid squamous cell carcinoma is very rare. At present, it limited to case reports. Since the thyroid follicular epithelium non-squamous epithelium, how primary (SCC) of occurs still a controversial issue. Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (HT) considered be an independent risk factor for cancer, under basis HT, tumor cells evolve and develop papillary (PTC), particularly de-differentiate into SCC elusive. We report 72-year-old female patient who developed multiple subtypes PTC on finally within local foci lymph node metastasis. found that there was variety sub-types in this background HT. Pathomorphology, immunohistochemistry, molecular pathology have confirmed derived from PTC, then poorly differentiated and/or anaplastic carcinoma. also conducted comprehensive literature review.

Concurrence of Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma and Hürthle Cell Carcinoma in an Iranian Woman with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis

The most usual form of the endocrine carcinoma is thyroid cancer (TC). In addition to papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC), recent studies revealed incidence of RET/PTC rearrangement in other tumors, like Hürthle cell carcinoma (HCC) and even in non-carcinomatous disorders like Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Here, we present a case with concurrence of papillary thyroid carcinoma and Hürthle cell carcino...

Squamous Cell Differentiation in Metastatic Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma: Metaplastic

Squamous cell differentiation (SCD) may occur in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) only at metastatic sites. We have studied cytokeratin CK5/6 and P63 along with TTF1 (thyroid transcription factor 1)  and B-Raf (V-Raf murine sarcoma viral oncogene homolog B1) immunohistochemical expression in neck lymph node metastases of thyroid PTC showing SCD. The patient (21-years) presented wit...

Thyroid papillary carcinoma associated to Hashimoto's thyroiditis.

UNLABELLED There is controversy in the literature regarding the association between papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) and Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT) and as to what would be the etiological relationship between them. OBJECTIVE To establish the proportion of cases among patients with TH and CPT, correlating it with histomorphological aspects. METHOD A retrospective study of patients undergo...

Hobnail variant of papillary thyroid carcinoma: molecular profiling and comparison to classical papillary thyroid carcinoma, poorly differentiated thyroid carcinoma and anaplastic thyroid carcinoma

BACKGROUND As a rare but aggressive papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) variant, the genetic changes of hobnail variant of PTC (HVPTC) are still unclear. RESULTS The prevalence of HVPTC was 1.69% (18/1062) of all PTC diagnosed in our cohort. 73 samples from 55 patients (17 HVPTC, 26 CPTC, 7 PDTC and 5 ATC) were successfully analyzed using targeted NGS with an 18-gene panel. Thirty-seven mutatio...
